Eagle Posture

Nestled between Awkward Posture and Party Time is Eagle Posture or Garurasana.  Eagle proves to be one of the postures that really brings “Yoga means twist your body into a pretzel” to life.  There are many benefits to the “pretzeling”.   Eagle increases blood flow to both the kidneys and the reproductive organs.  Here again, we see firming of the calves, hips, thighs, abdomen, and the upper arms.  Eagle stretches and opens the shoulders and hips.  The more we twist the more flexible the hips, knees, ankles, and shoulders get.   While increasing flexibility Eagle is even strengthening the latissimus dorsi, trapezius, and deltoid muscles.

After Eagle is a short water break, followed by Standing Head to Knee and the Balancing Series.
